Becoming a Mason

  1. Stop by and say Hello.
We meet every first and third Thursday of each month.
Our Stated Business Meeting is on the third Thursday of each month. Fellowship and refreshment start at 6:30 pm. Gavel is at 7:30 pm.

When you are interested in submitting a petition to join our lodge, you are required to have at least FOUR visits to any of our lodge meetings or events. This provides you with a great opportunity to learn more about our wonderful fraternity.

  2. Submit your Petition to join.
When you satisfy your minimum of four visits, you can now petition to join our lodge. You will fill out a petition form, which will require three signatures of our outstanding members to sponsor you. You will also need to provide a one-time donation of $200.00 dollars to the lodge to cover the cost of your degree work. This degree work is a series of rituals for you to be initiated as an Entered Apprentice, passed as a Fellowcraft, and raised to the degree of Master Mason.

  3. Investigative Committee
Once you submit your petition, it will be read at the next Stated Business Meeting. An Investigative Committee of three or more members will be assigned. The committee will then contact you for an interview. If you are married or have a civil partnership, it is required that the committee meets with both you and your spouse/partner either at your home or at the lodge. During the interview, it will provide you and your spouse an opportunity to ask and answer any questions that you might have to the committee.

  4. Balloting
After the interview, the committee will report at the next Stated Business Meeting. If the committee reports favorably, balloting will be held at the meeting. If all members voted in favor, we will schedule a day for your initiation.
If during balloting and you are “black balled,” it means that one or more members have rejected your petition, and petition donation will be returned.

  5. Scheduling of your First Degree (Your Initiation)
This is done on the 2nd Thursday night of the month. The 3rd Thursday is reserved for our monthly business meetings. Attire is suit & tie. Fellowship and Dinner will be from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Your initiation will start at 7:30 pm.
You will be sponsoring the dinner for the night so we expect that you bring a dish or two, refreshments, and desserts to share around for the dinner. This dinner is for all the members who will be performing and participating in your initiation.

  6. Proficiency Return (The Catechism)
Once you have been initiated for the First Degree as an Entered Apprentice, you will further do more learning and studying of the Masonic craft. Also, an Intender will be assigned to assist you in your learning journey. Your learning will consist of formal memorization of our rituals to help you understand every step of your Masonic growth. Every one of us went through it, so you will get plenty of assistance from all of us for you to learn and understand your craft. You will be studying at your own pace, so we like to say that “you get out of Freemasonry what you put into it.” This is an opportunity for you to see what you are truly made out of.

  7. Getting all of your Masonic Degrees Completed
Once your Proficiency Return is completed, we will pass you to your Second Degree. From this point on, everything will be just like your First Degree in Steps 5 and 6 above. Once you have been passed to the Second Degree as a Fellowcraft, we will then raise you for the Third Degree as a Master Mason.

If you have any questions about any of this, just ask any of our members when are at the lodge.
